LIFE EVENTS
This section is about “Life Events” in the church - Weddings, Baptisms/Christenings and Funerals. Phoenix Farm Community Church is here for you at these important times regardless of whether you are a church member, an occasional visitor or have never been to church.
MARRIAGES
Here at Phoenix Farm Community Church we love a wedding.
A wedding in a church allows you to make your commitment to each other that little bit more special, by making your commitment and promises before God.
“Love is patient; love is kind; love is not envious or boastful or arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice in wrongdoing, but rejoices in the truth. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
And now faith, hope and love abide, these three: and the greatest of these is love.”
1 Corinthians 13.4-8, 13
We would be delighted to welcome you for your wedding at Phoenix Farm Community Church. If you are interested in being married at the Church, please contact us by email at [email protected] . One of our ministers will then be in contact with you to arrange to meet with you to discuss what is involved. Please do not make any other arrangements until you have a confirmed agreement with the church.

BAPTISMS (CHRISTENINGS)
Baptism (or Christening – it means the same thing) is the traditional way in which people formally express their faith in Christ and join his Church. In the Methodist Church we baptise both children and adults who have not previously been baptised.
Baptisms take place during Sunday morning worship. This is at 10.30 am and lasts for about an hour.
Baptism is free – our Christian life and faith is a free gift to us from God so is baptism too.
If you are interested in being baptised, or having your child baptised, please contact us by email at [email protected]. One of our ministers will then meet with you to talk with you about the meaning of Baptism. If you then decide to proceed, he/she will fix a date with you for the baptism to take place.

FUNERALS
A funeral marks the close of a human life on earth. It is the opportunity for friends and family to express their grief and comfort one another in their bereavement, to give thanks for the life of the deceased and to commend the person to God.
Christians believe that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ gives them hope and cause for thanksgiving in the face of death. In this faith we entrust those who have died to the infinite mercy and love of God. A Methodist funeral service acknowledges this hope and offers bereaved people the opportunity to remember their loved one's life and offer them into God's care.
'For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor rulers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ (Romans 8: 38-39)
At Phoenix Farm Community Church, we believe that funerals are an important part of what our church offers. The service can take place here in the church or at a local crematorium. The service is an act of Christian worship to celebrate the life of the loved one lost and to bring comfort and hope to the bereaved.
The service can be a standard funeral service taken from the Methodist Worship Book or with the addition of specially chosen music, hymns, favourite prayers and readings and a tribute.
Most people will use the services of a local funeral director, who will provide advice and organise all the practical arrangements. Bookings are generally made in conjunction with arrangements made via a funeral director. If you would like a funeral to include a church service and the involvement of a local minister, please ensure the funeral director books the church and minister before finalising the arrangements. We can be contacted by e-mail to [email protected]. The Minister will then arrange to meet with you, usually at your home or the home of one of the family to offer support and help you to plan the service.
